马坝人遗址风景区是一个山、水、洞、石兼收并蓄，集考古与旅游、知识性与娱乐性融为一体的旅游胜地。前山主洞是 “马坝人” 化石出土地点，在银岩和桂花岩等洞中塑造了 “马坝人” 时代原始人类生活塑像群和 “石峡文化” 时期先民们生活情形。后山有禅宗六祖惠能大师曾居住过的招隐寺和大型的石灰岩溶洞，洞内有千姿百态的石钟乳。此外，景区内还设有建筑面积达 2096 平方米的马坝人博物馆，陈列有许多古人类化石、动物化石和新石器时代的文物。
